Summary

The SWTS was the first transfer station in North America to be LEED certified, and the 5th certified project in the Lower Mainland.

The Station incorporates natural light and high-recycled content materials while minimizing construction waste and water use. The innovative design addresses not only the sustainability of the building, but also of the site, with the use of native and drought resistant plants eliminating the need for irrigation, and the diversion of storm water through a bioswale to reduce pollutants.
